Human Problem

Designing a luxury kitchen is a high-stakes, deeply personal decision, yet the digital experience left customers uncertain, overwhelmed, and disconnected from the products they were considering. For purchases often exceeding $10,000, users lacked the confidence to move forward without visiting a showroom. The website functioned primarily as a product catalog, forcing customers to piece together information across disconnected pages rather than guiding them toward a clear decision. At the same time, Sub-Zero needed to elevate its digital presence to reflect its premium brand while increasing showroom visits and improving the overall path to purchase.

Concept — The Digital Showroom

We introduced the concept of a Digital Showroom, an experience designed to bring together product, environment, and expertise into a cohesive journey.

Rather than browsing static pages, users move through a guided experience that helps them:
• Discover possibilities
• Understand differences
• Build confidence
• Transition seamlessly to in-person consultation

Execution

1. Immersive storytelling to create emotional connection

We leveraged rich, cinematic product storytelling to elevate perception and bring the brand to life digitally. Instead of leading with specs, the experience leads with feeling, showing products in context, in use, and as part of a larger lifestyle narrative.
This approach reinforces Sub-Zero’s premium positioning while helping users imagine the product in their own space.

2. Guided discovery to reduce overwhelm

The previous experience required users to search, filter, and piece together information manually.

We introduced a more guided approach:
• Curated entry points based on intent
• Structured pathways through product categories
• Contextual recommendations to narrow choices
‍
This shifts the experience from “finding information” to being guided toward a decision.

3. Structured decision-making

To support high-consideration purchases, we simplified how users evaluate options:
• Clear product comparisons
• Streamlined product detail experiences
• Progressive disclosure of complexity

Rather than overwhelming users with options, the experience helps them understand trade-offs and move forward with clarity.

4. Bridging digital to physical

A critical part of the experience was connecting digital exploration to in-person consultation. We introduced clear pathways to:
• Book showroom visits
• Continue the journey offline
• Maintain momentum from inspiration to action

This ensured the digital experience didn’t end at browsing, it actively enabled conversion in the physical world.

5. Ecosystem thinking beyond the brief

While the initial ask focused on the website, we expanded the scope to consider the full customer journey:
• Brand storytelling
• Showroom experience
• CRM and follow-up touchpoints
• Cross-channel continuity

This holistic approach allowed us to design a more cohesive and future-ready experience system.

Reimagined Digital Experience

Impact

This work reframed the digital experience from a static product catalog into a guided decision-making journey.
‍
By focusing on confidence rather than content volume, the experience:
• Reduced friction in high-consideration decision-making
• Strengthened alignment between digital and physical touchpoints
• Elevated the perception of the brand through immersive storytelling
• Created a more intentional path from inspiration to showroom engagement

Internally, the approach also shifted how teams collaborated, moving from siloed deliverables to a more integrated, experience-led process that prioritized outcomes over outputs.
